My daughter has just enlisted in the Air Force. This fall, we will be traveling to San Antonio for her graduation. My question is, Am looking to stay in/on the Riverwalk. I do not know the area as to which is the "better" part of the riverwalk as in the most to do, resturants and such. Or is it even worth the extra money to stay on the riverwalk.
Thank you in advance.
The Marriott at the Riverwalk looks good to me. Never stayed there but you have direct access to the riverwalk and the mall.
Just FYI, there isn't much to do at the riverwalk besides walking and eating. Sometimes they have music there and there are a couple good bars including a dueling piano bar. And it's much nicer at night.
Good places to eat include Paisanos for italian, Texas Land and Cattle for steak, and Boudros for mexican. These are all a bit pricey though, so it depends on your budget.
Thank you for your reply. Thats kinda what i figured on the River walk. I'll just save my money and get a room near the base. As for food, we want to find a good mexican restuarant. Not the chain type places, but the mom, pop, son, daughter type that does it for real.
The best Mexican food in San Antonio (most everyone I know agrees) is at La Fogata. They're on Vance Jackson. Parking can be a pain in the butt and service can be slow, but it's awesome food. Great margaritas too. It's not mom-n-pop, but it's not a chain and it gets VERY busy on Fridays/Saturdays.
