Just wondering what you guys thought about these. I thought I had a K&N but just went out to make sure and guess we have a airaid. I know just about everyone has or is getting the 6637 and I was thinking about it also. Just wanted your thoughts on what I already have and if I should still change to the 6637 and what mods needed to be done to make it fit.
I used to have one, the whole "quick fit" kit, and that thing didnt work that well...It would rub against the hood a little bit so I decided to go with the 6637. I am glad I did since when I took the airaid off there was tons of dust in the intake tub...and I had cleaned the filter less than 1000 miles before that. What yr is yout truck? mine the intake hose just went right over the opening for the 6637.
I have an 01 F350 cc lb ect ect ect.... cant wait to the post mark min so I can add a sig line. From what pics I have seen on here it looks like people have put something in to make them fit and get better air flow to them. I am probably wrong but that is just what it looks like to me. I am all for changing the filter to the 6637 but didnt know how much stuff I would have to change. Thanks for your response!
Cris
Havent noticed any rubbing but did see an imprint in the hood
i think some trucks need a piece of pipe to connect the filter to the intake tube, Im not sure I think the pre 99.5s do, so you should be fine. It was a tight fit though for me.
Also look into one of Pete's (F250_) custom covers for it they are awsome. shoot him a PM about it.
Thanks again Chris. I will have to get ahold of him and see how much he charges for the covers once I sell the idea of changing the filter to the hubby. I did convience him we need to do a zoodad though
Just tell the hubby you noticed a little dirt on the air box lid and you believe you need better filtration before you dust the turbo. Tell him you've narrowed it down to the 6637 or AIS stage 2 filter. Show him the price of each and you'll have a 6637 in no time.
Best price is from Fleetfilter.com.
It also looks like you have enough posts now to go ahead and do that sig.

You are correct. The early 99's intake tube ends about where the hot side I/C pipe is. A 120* piece of 4" pipe is needed to use the 6637 on the earlies...
The best way to get ahold of Pete, aka F250_, is to shoot him an email at filtercovers@gmail.com. A lot of early's (mine included) were updated to the late 99 intake so all you need are two short (3" long) pieces of something 4" OD- 4" exhaust tubing or 3" plastic pipe couplers are the popular choices.
Thank you for the pictures! That will help alot! If I could only figure out where to do the sig line I would. I looked under user cp and did not see it. Will have to look around some more. Thanks again for the responses, I appreciate it.
