I'm getting a knock or clunk from front end when making tight turn with my 94 F-150, 4.9 with 101k miles. Either direction...... ??????????
Ok dude,
make sure you don't have the front manual hubs locked.
make sure your tie rod ends/steering components are good (no play) as well as greased up.
does it make a noise when you turn all the way to one side (wheel locked).
Radius bushings and pivot bushings are made of rubber, and deteriorate over time, allowing metal to bang on metal. Check them as well. Could also be loose shocks, ball joints, etc. Lots of things in a front end to work loose, rot, and fall apart.
I had a clunk coming from what felt like the upper right area when turning and hitting a bump, no clunk at all when going straight over any bumps. I looked around the right front for a while and all looked good. Something told me to check the left side and sure enought discovered the sway bar link was broken on the LEFT side. I was positive the clunk was coming from right front.
So, I went to AutoZone and for $20.00 got two links (replaced both sides since other one will probably break also) and now there is NO MORE CLUNK!
