Tires for the bigger F-series?

Has anyone had any luck with finding new tires for the bigger F-series (F-5, F-6)? I'm looking for 8.25-20 (10ply) traction tires in the rear and steering tires for the front. I'd like to find something with a retro tread to keep with the era (1950's) Right now it has the Goodyear Hi-Miler's, but they are in bad shape! Any info. would be great - thanks!

Yeah I picked up a set you can see them in my gallery. I had to order them from a commercial tire dealer Southern Tire Mart or TDS I can't remember, anyhow they were like 120 a tire and that included the liners.

8.25 x 20s at supertread in Conneaut Oh are 158.00 each and that includes the tubes.
Another tire co. close to there waspower kings at 144 a tire with tube.
I am buying radials and the TOYOM140Z are 198 each a set = 400 bucks.
All these prices include labor. I am replacing some on my diesel 56 F600 TRUCK

I put TOYO 9.00-20 radials on the front of mine and recapped 9.00-20 radials on the back.

You can see pics in my gallery.....

Diesel 56 F-600? where's the pictures? What engine and trans? AND what's the front/rear axle ratios in the MH?

By the way, your yellow 272 looks great! I'm getting ready to paint mine. I also am having the E4OD rebuilt too. I'll be getting the Adapter and stuff soon. I'll probably have the worlds only Automatic trans 55 F-600 around!

Cheers,

Rick

No offense taken either!

You know I thought about that! But I want my wife to be able to drive it....and it is still going to have a 2 speed axle!

It'll still be fun.....just not as fun as a 4 or 5 speed......I even thought about putting a ZF in it but I really like the idea of the E4OD. I might even put power steering in it!!......I know.....BLASPHEMY!!

Me?

I have a pile of them in the back yard.....Les Schwab Tires would NOT mount tires to any split rim. In fact they condemned the ones I took to them and wouldn't give them back!

They did find me a set of rebuilt (by a company in Pasco, WA) lock-ring type wheels. I guess you could say I have "new" wheels. I wish I had waited. I'd LOVE to order a set of 22.5" custom 5 lug wheels!

I won't look down on you for power steering for damn sure If I could wish it on my truck I would have it. Backing a trailer is like an arm workout. As it is I am saving up to install a blower next year so add a power steering pump to that and I would have like 100 pulleys on the front of my flathead.

I am thinking I could get a power steering unit from an early 60's F-600. That should work. Does anyone know what year the power steering was offered on the F-600?

I don't know how much it matters.

I want to make the interior of mine look "correct" so I'll use a column from an F-100 (Fordomatic version) the shift display should match the E4OD pattern.

I don't think they offered an auto trans in anything above a 1/2 ton but the steering box is in roughly the same reletive position on all the trucks so I should be able to match it all up. If I have to I'll use U-joints to connect it all together.
