Question from a confused girlfriend

Hi, this is my first post but I have been looking around the website for a while because my boyfriend is obsessed with FTE and his truck. And while he knows a lot about his truck I know very very little, I've been reading different posts to learn little things to impress him but my knowledge is still very limited. The other day he was working on his truck and I asked him what he was doing and he said he was doing the ccv mod and the foil delete. He told me to look them up and I have tired but I could not find a clear explination or one I could understand. So I thought I would ask you guys, you are all really good at explaining things in an easy to understand way, so I was hopping you could help me out.

Thanks!

Welcome to FTE!

A gal that loves trucks....alright!

The CCV mod is the crankcase ventilation mod. The stock CCV routes crankcase vapors from the motor into the intake tract of the turbo. From there the theory is that they will end up being pushed out of the exhaust. Instead, what happens is that they tend to collect in the intercooler and connecting piping and the end result is oily, dirty intercooler boots. The CCV mod is simply a way to vent these vapors to the atmosphere, thus keeping the intercooler and it's boots clean.

The foil delete is a mod where the foil that covers the hot side intercooler tube is removed. This is done to dress up the engine compartment a little bit and also to allow the turbo whistle to be heard a little better.

Hope this helps.

Here is a good description of the CCV mod with pics. (not that Scott's description wasn't good).

Welcome to FTE.

WOW, You must really love this guy. To come on here for information about his truck so you will know more and maybe help him. If my wife ever came on here it would be to fuss at all the guys for making me spend so much money.

You are one in a million.

I hope she isn't spying on him to find out whether or not the Mods that he "needs to do because if he doesn't the truck might explode" are really that important or not.

Well, let me assure you Ms 88, if he doesn't do these mods there is a very good chance that the truck could be engulfed in a ball of flaming diesel fuel and may even explode and kill some small animals and children playing in nearby parks. It is absolutely imperative that you allow him to do these mods and don't be mad that he is spending money on his truck instead of you because he is being a responsible citizen.

Wow that's halarious

Welcome to FTE. Stick around here long enough and you may know more about his truck than he does. I hope your not starting a trend because then how would we be able to hide things from our ladies lol.

P.S. Everything that Jason said is true.

I was thinking the same thing, but I figured I'd give her the benefit of the doubt. The other possibility is that that's actually him and he needs "girl level" descriptions of mods...

C'mon guys help the lady out. I know many of you have done these mods. How about posting some pictures so she can see what we're talking about.

Welcome to FTE jec88.
