Hey i am rebuilding a 351c (or so i hope it is). Could some one tell me what and when it came out of. The Block numbers are D9AE-6015-ED-24.
I would like a fairly souped up engine. My other question is, what kind of heads should i look for? I have a budget of about $2500 for the complete rebuild. I want to keep the compression fairly low, in a month or two i am going to set a 641 weiand on it, and don't want to be running race fuel.

I might be mistaken but if the block numbers are D9AE, it's not a 351C you are working with. The D9 portion of the code indicates a date of 1979; 351C's were phased out in the early '70s and were never installed from the factory in trucks (except for the Ranchero).

Where does the thermostat housing bolt on??
Does it bolt to the intake manifold or does it bolt to the engine block. 351 Windsors have a "wet" intake manifold (coolant runs thru the intake). The 351C, 351M and the 400 have a "dry" intake.
I agree with the previous poster that is not a 351C due to the 79 model year. If it is a dry intake - it is a 351M or 400.
