I'm DONE!

Yup, I've decided I'm not going to pay $4.29 for #2 when 87 is only $3.49. $0.80 is a big deal, especially to the truckers! It's costing me nearly $150 a week in diesel alone to drive to work, not to mention $11/gal for 15w40. I've done the math and yup, I now own a 2008 Ranger 5spd, 2 wheel drive powered by the 2.3l I4 for a mere $10,105. It's rated for 26MPG but when it's all said and done... the savings in fuel will just about make the payment.

But don't worry, I didn't get rid of my 7.3! I just added another Ford to the family!

My commuter isn't quite as glamorous as yours- 92 Tempo GL with a 2.3L (I think) 4 banger that gets about 20-22 mpg. But... it only cost me $250 bucks when I bought it about 3 years ago. Money well spent!
Fuel in my neck of the woods- $3.63 for regular UL, $4.13 for #2 diesel.

I have an 86 CRX that cost around $20 to fill. sure is helps the beer fund.
but then again, folks can't see me now unlike my truck. and the dam horn dont work either, so all they can do is look for rocks or the finger when they cut me off.

I'm still commuting to work in my truck for $300/month in fuel cost alone for that ($4.15/gal in SoCal). Too much more and I'm spending $1000 for somebody's old 1990 Civic. 30mpg not to mention $100 for all 4 tires and about 4 gallons of oil per change. I'll go bankrupt before I give up the keys to my 7.3!!!!!!!!

Have you tried Wal-Mart for oil? Shell Rotella T 15w40 (dino) oil is only $8.88/gallon.

I used my PSD on the weekends. Work car is a 97 Plymouth Neon. Not too glamorous, but 34 mpg. I don't quite understand why diesel is 80 cents higher per gallon than gas. Especially since the winter heating months are over. Darn speculators in the market I guess.

The price of diesel around here is $1.26/L which works out to about $5.00/US gallon, gas isn't much better. And there is no way I would give up my truck anyways.

I would never give my diesel up either, this last tanks of fuel has lasted me a week and a half now, longest ever! Just have to drive less then before which is no big deal to me

Well I would've thrown rocks at myself! I could NEVER give up that 7.3!! The dealer was talking about giving me 22k as a trade in and I just laughed. But yeah, I figured I gotta work and this way I won't wear out my F350!

Because it's no cheaper... They're charging the same, if not more, at the pump. Which is ridiculous! If your talking about home brewing.. well that's a whole other debate.

I am talking about finding a source for WVO and filtering it. Of course you would have to add the necessary kit and possible extra tank to approx a 3-4K cost but over the long run why not?

In my area all the places either have someone collecting it already, or the oil company sells it to the restaurants as a package. They take the old oil when they deliver the new oil. So I figured I would call the oil company and inquire about buying some used oil, but they all said that they do not sell it they render it down for hog feed. This was 3 years ago now that my bro-inlaw and I were looking into it. Now I don't have the time to devote to it if I wanted to. It's only fuel they'll make more

I just keep telling myself that I'm making my F-350 live longer by driving the '89 corolla. I have to convince myself every mourning but everytime I go to the pump its a little easier. Gotta keep the truck to pull the toys.
