I have a 2002 F350 7.3 and have a problem with it. It keeps making the "CPS" failure symptoms. It dies when running and won't start for a while (10 - 30 minutes) and then it runs again but dies again. I have changed the CPS sensor 5 times in the past 4 days and it keeps doing the same thing. I have no CEL and I hooked up the scanner and reads nothing and there are no codes saved in the memory either. I tried another PCM and that did not fix the problem. I am running out of ideas here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Gosh this is tough and im just gonna throw this out there but have you checked your fuel pressure? We need some of the experts to help out here. Any more symptoms would help too
There should be some codes in memory if it dies like this. A scanner from autozone or any other auto parts place wont scan our trucks. PSD's aren't OBDII compliant, so it takes a better scanner to pull codes. An AE scanner or one at a repair shop can do it (last resort is the dealer). Hopefully some of the guys who know their way around these trucks better will chime in.
Check your main engine wiring harness for chaffing. It's the thick wiring harness that comes up and over the drivers valve cover. It can rub against the valve cover or against metal parts above the valve cover and cause the truck to stall without leaving a code.

This is a different problem than the UVCH Pete, and a quicker one to check. I discovered this one the hard way. I was almost ready to trade the truck in until a Ford mechanic charged me $275 for 2 crimp connectors and 6" of electrical tape. At the time it was a good deal.
Low fuel pressure would set a code and CEL. It does sound like electrical someplace to me as well. Those problems inhale to 29.92 inches of Hg. I wish you luck finding it!! Make sure you let us know when & where you find it, please.
What kind of CPSs are you using? I know that there has been a bunch of trouble with aftermarket ones. Also, when your engine dies, do you lose dash light and gauges? I don't think the IPR would shut one down that cold and it should set a code of it were failing. Have you checked your voltage while running? If something is pulling you voltage down below 10.5v that will shut everything down.
