I know when replacing pads or shoes to replace in pairs. Is it safe to replace just 1 rotor? I just got this 89 F-150 4x4 & was going through the front end. I found one of the inner bearings races was loose. Put in a new race & it's loose. I figured at one time the bearing got hot & locked up & spun the race.
I can get rotor & hub for 75.00 from Bronco Graveyard. Hubs alone everywhere else start at 60.00. Just want to make sure that it's ok to just replace one rotor.
you now have two used rotors on the vehicle.I would think replacing only the bad rotor would be okay.If i were replacing brake pads I would do both sides.
Its not the "best thing to do" but it should work out fine....... I had a caliper hang up only like 15k after a brake job so I ended up replacing caliper/rotor and pads on one side. yes, one side. Not a lick of problems! I have seen others do it with no problems . Also I have seen people put pads on worn rotors with no problems. However I am sure the braking distance wasnt as short with the new pads. It can and has been done.
If the problem is with the hub/bearing why replace the rotor? If there is nothing wrong with the rotor that is on there now then pop it off the bearing, which you should have to do to get the old one off, and replace it on the new bearing. And save yourself the added cost of the rotor and the concern of weather or not it is safe.
