Hey guys this seems to be a very common looking thread but I need some help. I have a 71 f100 that I think originally had a 302, but now that is gone. I have been told by the previous owner, my grandfather (who is deceased ) that the replacement engine is a 351w. I'm sure you all know how hard it is to get parts for and engine that you don't know for sure what it is. I got the casting numbers of the block above the starter D9AE-6015-ED-23. I followed the links at the top of the page and it seems that the number says 1979 galaxy, but that is all I can find, not even that it is indeed a 351w. I will get #'s from the intake and timing cover if I can locate them. Please help, thanks Jason
I would also like to know what the tranny is if you can tell me where to find #'s on it I will try to locate them thanks again.
the 351w is wider, and has 8 bolt valve covers. 302's and 351c's have 5 bolt covers. If it's a windsor, should be a label on the valve covers saying so.
check out the deck ... this is a 351W... look at where the water pump. timing cover bolts on... see how much higher the deck is compaired to the 302 below...
302 and 351W share the same valve cover, heads, bellhousing, timing cover, ... the 351W has a wider intake due to the taller deck...
