Question control module

I have a 86 ford escort it has a 1.9 4 speed fuel injected. It burned the control module out so I put another one on,went bout 100 miles bruned the second one out.Is there some thing that could be giving it to much power to make it burn them out or am I just getting bad modules?

Are you talking about the TFI for the igintion, if so are you putting the heat transfer compound on the back of it before you mount it up, it's like heatsink compund in a computer. Also yu may want to check the grounds and supply voltages in the system, too much heat or too much power/bad ground can burn them up.

A failing coil can draw too much power and burn it up too-

Did you decide by checking the primary resistance? A shorted coil can still provide some spark-

1986 Escort 1.9L

There are two different Modules and two different Stators.

WITH EEC IV

E43Z-12A297-A .. Module (Motorcraft DY-425) Marked: E3EF-12A297-A1A or A2A.

E5PZ-12A112-A .. Stator (Motorcraft DU-30)

WITHOUT EEC IV

E3FZ-12A199-B .. Module (Motorcraft DY-384) Marked: E3EF-12A297-B1A or B2A or C1A.

E3FZ-12A112-A .. Stator (Motorcraft DU-25A)

Stator aka Pickup Coil in the dizzy.

At dealers, it's standard operating procedure to replace both at the same time.

Did you replace the original module with a Motorcraft module?

Many of the autoparts store replacement modules are made in China crap.
