302 identification

302 identification
i have a 77 f100 it came with a straight 6 but now has a 302 in it the problem is i have no clue what type of 302 i no it isnt a boss ive been told that there is a heavy duty 302 but im not shure how reliable the source is anybody no how i can figure out at least the year model of the engine...thanks

If you feel like pulling the starter you can look right above it on the block and find the casting numbers and post them here,these will tell you what your engine came in originally. I've never heard of a 302HD, but thats just me. Get those numbers and Post back, we'll see what we can come up with!
