I have a dead engine in my 80 F100 and I found a 77' F150 with a 302 really cheap. I want to swap the enigine from the 77 into my 80. The only difference is my 80 is a 3spd manual and the 77 is an automatic. Will there be a problem if use the flywheel from the 77 with a clutch? I have been told there was a flywheel change between 77 and 80 and I dont want to use the wrong one.
Stangfan, the main thing to worry about is the flywheel imbalance, but they didn't change that from 28 oz. to 50 oz. till '81 so between a '77 and an '80, you should be okay, they should both be 28 oz. Don't forget to put a pilot bearing in the end of that '77 crankshaft though. -TD
