If i have it exit behind cab in front of the rear wheel, will it be about the same as chopping the muff right where it is?

Pretty close I think. Right now all I have is a 4" straight pipe that ends right under the cab and it makes a lot of noise. Before I started my exhaust install I just cut my muffler out and took it for a test run which had the pipe ending about 18" in front of the rear axle and it sounded really good!

On my CC ran it for a year or so with it straight piped.....while towing my TT it was a bit much as the sound would bounce off the TT (stock location 4" exhaust no kitty and 5" tip). I then made a custom SS 6" by 14" resonator installed just downstream of DP and this took out a significant amount of rasp. One could always take the stuffing out of the kitty and in effect would make a resonator.
