Leaking valve covers

Leaking valve covers

I have a couple of leaky valve covers on my 1990 351w and i was just wondering how much of a job it will be to replace the valve cover gaskets. It looks like you would have to remove the entire intake to do so. Any info or comments will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you do have to take off the upper intake. Give yourself 4 hours and make sure the surfaces are clean and dry. There is one bolt on the upper intake that has a torks head. A long bit or I used an allen wrench to reach it.

You might want to leave more than 4 hours. I did the same thing, and I can't remember exactly how long I spent on it...Total, I worked on it for part of 2 days, but not all day both days, and the time I was working on it, I kept running inside to warm my hands up. But I have learned this from working on my truck, it always seems to take longer than you think it will.
