Hey guys, my 95 taurus is due for new struts. I had monroe shocks/struts before but it seemed like they wore out too quickly. I was wondering, besides monroe, what other good brands are there? I was wondering in particular about kyb and if anyone has used these. Any input you may have helps, thanks!
Monroe was going to be my suggestion as I have never had any issues with them. Now the budget units are crap, dont know which ones you had. Stay as far away from Gabriel as you can. KYB makes a damn good unit as well as Tokico. I just put the Tokico HP's on my Stang, they are awesome., but I dont know if they make HP's for a Taurus/Sable. They might because of the SHO in those bodies, which the SHO suspension opens up a hole new world for you.
Thanks for the input, I think I may go with the KYB. They run 75 dollars at advance auto and 53 dollars on rockauto.com which I believe advance will do price match against. I am trying to get the best deal for my money, as my taurus' idler pully crapped out yesterday and nearly sheered off, ate the belt, needs the airbag fixed (believe its an open circuit on drivers side as light is flashing 4-2 which I am pretty sure is the code for open circuit) and I need a new blinker/windshield wiper switch. As well as the tires being balanced and an oil change.
I can do everything myself, I have already started on the idler pulley, everything I can do here at my house. I usually just take the car to a shop for the oil change and balancing seeing as by the time you go, buy your own oil and filter, change it, then have to go find a place to dispose of it, it turns out being more of a hassle than it would be if I had just brought it to the shop, waited 45 minutes, and paid the same amount of money! I think goodyear service runs a 14.99 oil change around here.
