302 HO. Camshaft

I have 302 H.O. from an '83 Dominator Mustang. I have been told that the HO motors had a 351W marine camshaft in it.

I would like to find out what the duration and lift of this cam is.

The early versions of the 5.0L H.O. cam might have different numbers but here is what the 2002 Ford Racing Performance Parts Catalog lists for specs on the 5.0L H.O. cam : advertised duration 266 degrees intake/266 degrees exhaust,0.444" lift intake/0.444" lift exhaust.(Duration at .050" is 210/210)

While we are on the subject, What differences are there between a truck application cam vs 302HO cam? Can they be interchanged?

the cam for the mustang is for more horsepower and the cam for a truck is for torque.

I'm cool with that. So, with that said, could I put a mustang cam in a truck 302?

Yes, as long as you hook up the plug wires with the cam's firing order.

Those cam specs sound like the roller cam specifications for the 86-95 5.0 HO roller camshaft. That won't be the same as an 83 flat-tappet cam.

The roller cam has the same firing order as the 351.

The '83 302 H.O. also has the same firing order as the 351w although it is not a roller cam.

According to a Ford Performance book I have the '83 302HO used a 351W marine camshaft, but I can't find the specs on it.

I have the specs for that cam. It has 260/274 duration and .416/.444 lift. hope this helps.

'87 f-150 4x4 Jasper rebuilt 302, '87 HO roller cam, 1.7rr,SEFI conversion with Mustang HO computer and superchip, flowtech shorties, Flowmaster y-pipe, 3" dumped Aerochamber, FMS trac-lock.
