Trucker strike?

Ok so I've been hearing about this almost everywhere around where I live for the past week or so that there is supposed to be a large trucker strike to protest fuel prices on Monday the 24th and another on April 4th. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this or has anyone else heard this? I think it would be a good idea to help bring the cost down to everyone considering this country can't run without trucks. I even know that a small milk hauling company in my area (20-25 trucks) has over doubled his fuel bill now while maintaining the same fleet of trucks. But its a shame that a small company like that can't get into the national fuel discount because it is even too small!!

I Think they should all park their trucks for a few weeks, there is no reason we should be paying $4 a gallon of fuel.i know it would be hard on the truckers but with the cost of running a big rig now a days most are loseing money anyway

Would be a great thing to see all the Truckers strike as diesel prices are rediculous. Especially since diesel is cheaper to refine and is way more expensive that gas

I don't think a trucker strike would affect the price of diesel 1 cent. The days of cheap fuel are over and we just need to get used to it. I love my diesel but I think I'll be downsizing when it's time to buy another vehicle.

Yes we should park for a few days days but that will never happen, they've been talking about that forever. With the fuel prices the way they are we won't have to go on strike, we won't be able to afford to drive.

Anyways happy Easter everyone

A local news article about truckers said that they are slowing down to save fuel, they said a change from 75 mph to 65 mph save about 2 mpg. doesn't seem like much but for the distances they drive it ends up being quite a bit.

Remember 80% or more of the American Economy relies on Trucks to deliver all the goods and products thats makes America what it is now. I drove rigs for a year over the road and drove to all 48 continental states and Canada. If the truckers went on strike for one week, there would be so much Chaos in America that the government would have to send troops to stop the madness. Although I am for a trucker strike, you had better be prepared and ready for the mess that would come with one... But like another said above in a previous post, they have been talking about this for years and nothing yet. Also, you have so many powerful large trucking companies that can afford to stay afloat (Swift, Werner, CFI, CR England, Knight), and many more that in total put over 100,000 plus trucks on the road. So a total trucker strike is really out of the question, its more like the little companies that will try and more than likely fail, because there is always, and I mean always a driver from a large company looking for a load, ( I used to be that driver)......

Just my .2 Cents....

truck drivers are forever talking about striking. Fact is, all it is is talk. You will never get 2 truckers to aggree to park thier trucks. Just listen to the CB for 10 minutes at any truck stop in the nation. Truck drivers do NOT get along.

With the price of fuel at 4.00 a gallon, going one or two days without a load will put most owner operators or small companies in the hole big time, a week and they will be looking for another job....

Don't forget that the other 20% is brought in by rail and guess what the primary fuel for rail is: DIESEL!!!

Why just the truckers? Why not have everyone stop driving to work along with the truckers. One business day a week. I hate Mondays anyhow. Ride a bike, take a bus, walk, stay home. Imagine the chaos!
