Oil pump

A buddy of mine told me to get rid of my stock oil pump and get a dual feed high pressure oil pump. Who makes that?

What kind of engine do you have? A 7.3L PSD?

If so, then your buddy is talking about Big Oil.

Check out http://terminatorengineering.com/terminatormain.htm

PS - Hint: put your vehicle info in your sig, so we don't have to keep asking what kind of engine.

I have a 2002 7.3 PSD, 87,000 miles, Banks Big Hoss, stacked with six gun tuner, banks wastegate, Banks 4" down pipe from turbo, Banks 4" monster exhaust, muffler, Banks Transcommand, Banks Torque Converter, Banks Intercooler, S & B Airbox, Helswig sway bar, Firestone Air bags, 396 RWHP, 915 RW Torque @ dyno last year, Amsiol bypass filters. A real runner. I am interested in throwing away the Banks stuff and going with a tuner, lift pump, injectors, oil pump.......just more ponies! I currently get 33.8 miles to the gallon @ 55 mph! I treat every tank of diesel with Essential Lube, Diesel Kleen, and occasionally transmission oil.

YES, 33.8 @ 55 mph, 32.8 @ 60 mph, 31.8 @ 65 mph, I didn't test it @ 70 mph. Yeah, pretty amazing. I purposely added mods separetely to see the difference. The milage came with the last mod: Banks Intercooler, man, the fuel mileage and EGT dropped huge! I would highly recommend anyone with an oil burner to add the intercooler.

Is that hand calculated or with the overhead trip computer? Can you try to get some pics up of your Excursion?

That is hand calculated, I don't trust the overhead monitor, though it was pretty close. I will work on getting photos. I have had it since new, and finally have a digital camera. All my photos have been taken with a picture phone and consequently, with each phone upgrade I lose the pictures!

Depends on whose driving it! : ) That milage was taken to a trip our Hwy 84 E to Walla Walla, WA. It is pretty flat, I have taken the trip 3 times now and had the same results. Around town we average 23-26 mpg. Still really good. We have a 45 gallon tank, so, 1000-1125 miles if ran empty.

I don't think anyone on here has heard of those kind of fuel numbers with the 7.3
I'm not calling you on it, but there might be some on here that will...

Man, I wish my rig got 20 mpg....
