I have been noticing a noise coming from my from and rear end of my Ex, sounds like something is loose, maybe something in the suspension whenever I hit a crack in the road that is over an inch or two wide or biger. It definatly sounds like something is not right. My dad drives an 2000 F350 and it ride so smoth an quite over the rough roads here in AK compared to my Ex. My Ex is a 04 so something isnt right, it does have over twice the milage on it tho. 103,000 compaired to 45,000. So maybe one of you have had this problem and can help out because it is driving me nuts.
Describe your problem better and give more details on your truck.
Then...
Check for a broken leaf in the spring pack.
Check for a loose or broken bolt on the spring hangers.
Make sure your spare tire is tight.
Make sure the jack in the storage compartment is tight.
I had suspension noises in my 2000 X also. We found loose bolts in the right rear lower shock mount and loose bolts in the front right sway bar bracket. I tightened them up and that was the end of the noise.
I didn't check the bolts, ill go do that now. Im not sure if they are supposed to be like this but my leafs in the front are flat, almost bowing down. It seemed kit of strange.
Only thing my truck has done to the suspension that I know of is it has a sway bar front and back. Not sure if its ford's or the other brand. I bought this truck used so not sure on some of the add ons manufacturers.
I also am going to get new shocks put in soon as they seem to be worn out. not sure if that would cause any noise really but I know the truck hits the rubber stoppers a lot over minor bumps.
