Does anyone know what this carb is or where I can find out? I just want to know the cfm and what kit to buy. Holley E3ZE-9510-BGA List# 50117 3052
I tried to research it, and all I got was that it was originally off an early 80's 302 HO. He claims it didnt need a rebuild and was running great, but after getting it home I think I was suckered haha.
Also I have a .512 lift cam, I was wondering what rockers and springs you guys would recommend using so I have good clearance. I was looking at 1.6 rockers and springs good to .550 lift
I can tell you the carb is off an 83 Ford, but not much more. Once you cam up ,it's probably going to be too small anyway, even working right. Sounds like the right stuff, otherwise.
I like this little web-site, it has been pretty useful and has additional links. Since you didn't mention if it was 2 or 4 brl, you will need to investigate on your own...
That might work, depending on the heads and intake you are running. It's actually a little more CFM than I expected. It's a perfect starting point, though. If it doesn't breathe enough on the top end you can always go a little bigger.
The intake is a aluminum single plane, nothing too serious. I'm soon ready to put it all together, the heads otherwise are just stock valves, along with a set of headers to top them off. I'm using just stock pistons, new moly rings of course.. thinking about downsizing the cam. any thoughts? I'm not looking for a powerhouse, I just want something to push my 35's along a little better. I rarely carry a heavy load.
Well from everything you've said you should be good. The problem with the cam is, that all we know is the lift. That's like saying " are 36 c' s " good. On a 5' 9" 110 # blonde 18 year old, I'd have to say yes. On a 375# 60 year old, not so much. It seems like a lot of cam to me for what you want, especially if the duration is in line with most off the shelf grinds. Duration= age and weight, if those are low, you may be alright. How about the giving us the rest of the specs?
Yeah, were mot talking 18 year old anymore. It's not stupid big, but probably a bit more cam than you want for low end torque. Correct me if I'm wrong-( don't worry 2 or 3 of these guys will), but you should step back down to an RV cam. You didn't mention any mods to your heads, and a cam like that won't do anything from 0- 30 or 40 mph and not really kick in untill 60mph + with your set-up. Is that what you want?
well, basically i'm trying to get some more power on the highway with my 35's, it has plenty of low end because of the 4 speed granny and gears. So i'm thinking that is what I want, but I dont want to lose any torque either.
It's not like you lose torque, it just comes in at a higher rpm. If you feel it's really strong at the low end, then you are probably fine, but you are going to lose some low end. In some ways a cam is like a checking account, you can write a bigger check to one place, but it leaves you less money for the other.
I could be wrong and am definately no expert, but I believe a single plane intake is for a hi rev engine and isn't a good choice for what you want. I'm in the process of de-building a 351W, 475 hp down to a 350hp low to mid power band and was told to remove my Victor Jr.single plane to a dual plane, both 4v carb.
Just keep asking ?s on what your desire is and you will get the answers.
BTW I got my 351W in a swap and knew what I was getting as far as a Hi performer. The engine had just been built and never run when I got it and I'm still asking ?s and making changes.
It will end up in my 92' F150 SWB e4od 4X4.
Oh yea I have a 78' F350 dually, 351M stroked to a 400 ci and have a low to mid range cam, stock heads, a 2v carb, 4sd granny, single in, dual out Flo master and I get 13-14 mpg and love the performance. I believe I have pic in my gallery. It's a daily driver, summers only.
Good Luck & keep asking ?s be fore spending $$.
