I bought a three axle Aztec "box" to carry my 6,000 lb Packard V-12 in The trailer CLAIMS to be rated for 10,000 max gvw, meaning, since it weighs about 3,000 lbs, it should be o.k.

Wha I found out..is you "get what you pay for" ( duh ). Cheap bastrds made the floor out of 3/4 OSB. Car's heavy wheels have broken thru the flooring.

STRONGLY recommend you look carefully before buying. ONE of the many ways to spot a cheapo trailer..is look at the floor, and weight-carrying provisions. Dont make the mistake I did - get one with some showing of quality, meaning..something stronger for flooring than 3/4 in OSB

We used to have a Haulmark racecar trailer, we got it used and it was beat like a dead horse!

Like 6686L says, don't rush into a cheapy!

We spend more time on the road fixing it, then we spent towing it.

If you are from GA ,Pace has a plant there I think.. This is my friend,He will hook you up with a trailer that will work for you. And arrainge to pick it up at the factory.Or search for dealer in your area. Don't go cheap or you will pay in the long run.

We have a 1994 24' Haulmark that we purchased new and we've used it to haul our antique cars on tours all over the US. My main regret was purchasing the trailer with 3500# rated axles and they weren't quite enough capacity for our larger cars. In 2000, I ended up replacing the axles with #5200 rated Dexter Torflex models and I've had no complaints since - bigger tires, bigger brakes and more load handling capacity. The v-nose is a good idea because the wind resistance is the biggest load to your Excursion (ours is a blunt nose). I get identical mileage pulling the trailer regardless of whether it's loaded or not. When I first got the trailer, I installed battleship linoleum floor covering in it and painted the side sheets white and I've been real happy with it. I also have a wind deflector wing that I mount on the tow vehicle and it increases the mileage about 1.5 to 2 mpg when I use it.

The 24' length has been more than enough for carrying the car and supplies and continues to serve us well. For our uses, I wouldn't want to deal with the extra length of the 28', but then that's a personal choice as your uses may differ.

Actually, Advantech tongue and groove OSB 3/4" is stronger than tongue and groove 3/4 plywood. It was not the fault of the OSB, but rather the cheap trailer manufacturers put their floor joists on 24" centers, where the good manufacturers put their floor joists on 16" centers, which makes a very strong floor. Also the Advantech OSB carries a 50 year warranty and resists water better than plywood.

That's one of the benefits of Advantech, it doesn't matter if it gets wet, moisture or rain or whatever has very little effect on it. Hence the 50 year warranty.

I have a haulmark as well and have had zero problems with it. Mine is a 20' x 8.5' Black with the chrome corners.

Very pleased overall with my pace. 7x16 (so too small for a car)

The 2 things I would recommend would be:
•LED lighting (less power consumption and don't have to worry about replacements
•Dexter axles or other brand of torsion axles. I think they jostle the cargo less than traditional leaf springs.

Here's another brand to consider. FWIW, West Coast Choppers uses these guys (although I don't and can't vouch for them)

Just picked up a 28' cargo king with 5200lbs axles and a 10k gvwr rating. Loaded it with 7 bikes and 2,000lbs of leather.
Just got back from Daytona bike week, 2,200 miles round trip, no problems.
Added reese weight dietribution hitch and sway bar.
77-80mph all the way.
The X handled like a champ.
I also had another 2,000lbs in the truck...4 guys and more leather.
I was over weight in the truck and the towing capacity, by aprox. 3,000lbs

I love my X...2000, 7.3
