Hi gents, since i am new to diesels i am wondering what advice i could get with reguards to an air intake system because i have read alot of bad things about letting dirt thru the air filter. Which ones work the best?
Lots of people have the 6637 filter. I got mine at NAPA for around 47.00. There are so many ways that people put these on. You can't see my filter because I have one of Pete's covers on it. Do a search on 6637 and you will have a weeks worth of reading. Here is mine.
Hi and welcome, most people on here use the NAPA 6637 filter also known as the kwik filter mod. Big gains in engine breath-a-bility. Do a search on this mod and you 'll find enough reading to keep you busy awhile.
The AFE Stage II system also comes highly recommended, which uses either a 5 or 7 layered gauze filter which requires oiling, but they are also cleanable and re-useable.
As an extension of the AFE offerings, they are also making a proprietary filter element that is as large as the 6637, but it is also open on the end with additional filtration are inside it. Here's a link where Brandon has just purchased one of these AFE monsters. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...fe-6637-a.html
Down side is that I think the large AFE element above is around $100, IIRC. They are also selling a complete install kit, which includes a 4" connector tube between the filter and the turbo.
