ive got a freind with a early '90s F150 s/c 2wd with a C6, says reverse is gone. is it a simple matter to replace a band to get reverse back or is it much more involved. ive only ever changed fluid and filter on auto's before. i thought his truck was new enough to have the E4OD but he insists its the C6. any thoughts or help appreceated.
The direct is used in 3rd and reverse.
The other is for manual low and reverse.
One way to find out if it is the low / reverse pack is to rive it in manual low range and back off the accelerator.
If the vehicle free wheels the clutch is defective.
To replace either one it requires removal of the transmission.
