I have a 2002 7.3. Not many mod it has a 6637 and muffler deleat.My
promblem is twice in the last four mouth When i start up in the morning
i usaly dont let it warm up to long .Then i take off it has no power
it dont blow no smoke or miss. The throtle dont seem to do nothing it
will still go but it hits around 1000-1200 rpms and thats it.I pulled over
and started scratching my head. Took off for home it ran fine.Did it
again today same thing pulled over took off is was fine.No codes found.
Im in westren nc. Its get pretty cold here sometime. One morning it was
around 20 degres today nearley 50. On the warm up about 5 min.Has
130,000 miles just broke in for a 7.3 lol. Sorry so long but thanks
for any help.
Welcome to FTE. What did you use to check for codes? Not all scanners will pull engine codes from the 7.3. If you have a access to a good scanner maybe you should do the switch check. If you're pushing the go pedal down and can only get 1200 rpm's you might have a problem with the throttle position sensor.
I think it just depends on how cold it is and how long you let it warm up. If I have to leave quick in the morning when it is say 25° it takes mine a while to let me rev it up. Has been that way since she was new, but if it did at 50° w/ 5min warmup the EBPV is more than likely sticking a bit. IMO
Thanks for the welcome.I used a edge programer.its in stock right now, how do you test
the switch?
I don't know if the edge will do the test. I think it just pulls codes. On my Auto Enginuity scanner you can do a switch test where you have to push & realease all the pedals & cruise control buttons and it will tell you if something does not work right.
If you can figure out how to get your programmer to run the test let me know and I'll send you the order in which everything is supposed to be pushed for the test. I discovered an issue with my clutch pedal position switch this way.
If you can't do it post what town you're in and maybe there's a fellow member close by with a scanner that could help you out.
I dont think it does test anything just pulls codes.Im in weaverville nc about 15 miles
from asheville. One thing i did notice when i programed the truck in tow mode the
throtle got touchy that one reason it not on there now had a bad experance on
some ice.The ebpv that what closes and make is warm up faster right. It dont sound
like is muffled or anything when going out the road.
