Just Got a 06 f-150 king ranch . looking to maybe put on a cold air intake , which one is the best . I would like to know the pros and cons of each . Truck is stock except for flowmaster exhaustCat Back . Will be used for daily driving , and towing18ft enclosed trailer 2 axle 7000lb. Any other mods to improve gas milage etc. Seems like the truck has plenty of power now.
I sell K&N, AFE, AirForceOne and some others, but I personally REALLY like the S&B intakes. S&B is very high quality all across the board, from their intakes down to their instructions.
Right now I am offering $5 off S&B filters using coupon code "5offsb". You can also get the airbox custom engraved for free, if you wish.
CAI won't improve your mileage. I have a Volant and love it. However, it hasn't improved fuel economy at all. It does have a nasty resonance around 2400 rpm that sets off the entire truck. If you're pulling the trailer a lot, you may not like it.
I ordered the Volant (and Edge) from Jusnes and it should be here today or tomorrow... I am interested to see how it effects the over drivability and performance as well as the fit and finish when installed.
What i did was to take the org. cold air sys. an cut the side silencers off, coverd the holes with rubber plugs, then taped the plastic air tube with aluminum tape.replaced the air filter w/ KN. then replaced cat back exhust W/flowmaster 2 sys. tape cost $7.00 ---flowmaster cost $287.00-- MPG before was 13.2--MPG after 14.7 !!!
AFE, AEM, K & N, AirRaid, Bully Dog, CGS, Injen, S & B, and True Flo are the brands we offer. Have the AFE on special right now at 8% off and using the code below, gives you an additional 7% off.
I have an AFE with the dry media filter. Washable filter with no oil. It doesn't improve mileage to much but helps with power along with the edge I have installed.
