6.0 Fuel system

Hi-

I'm a big 7.3 fan, but I'm thinking about making the jump to the 6.0. I've got lots of questions, but I'll be able to answer most of them by searching this forum. Right now I'm looking for information on the fuel delivery system. Are there any websites that explain the system in detail, hopefully with pics? I'm mainly interested in: 1)the connections between the filter bowl and fuel rails, 2) sensors and locations, 3) does fuel return to tank or is it deadheaded, 3) info on the fuel conditioner, etc.....

I have had great success running my 7.3 on vegetable oil, but I spent money and time to do it right. I hope to do the same with a 6.0.

Any sources of info would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel System

I own a 2005 6.0 E350. I used have the same truck with a 7.3. I used to get 21
mpg with my 7.3. Now I only get 16 mpg with the 6.0. Just be prepared to use alot more fuel with the 6.0 The fuel additives don't improve the the milage atb all, although some claim they do. The cetane boost, the injector cleaners do nothing to improve fuel milage.

I guess the additional HP/TQ in the 6.0L have nothing to do with MPG.

Do some research on running svo/wvo on the 6.0. You might want to run bio instead of the risk of svo/wvo. There could be a problem with the viscosity of the oil and the high psi of pressure at the injectors. If not done and monitored correctly there could be problems with polymization. There are guys running svo/wvo in there 6.0 without problems.

The 6.0 has better pick up, but to repair it costs more money. I just had to put in a brake boost that my 7.3 lasted 320,000 miles. In the 6.0 it lasted 172,000, and cost
3 more hours of labor. The 6.0 also has EGR problems-that they only last from 150,000
miles or less that has to be replaced. If you want alot more headaches buy a 6.0. If I could turn back the clock, I would buy a 6.0. I'd get the 6.4 if was available. With the price of diesel, my next van will be the 5.4 gasoline. Good luck if you buy a 6.0
