What I have is a 1986 F250 HD 4x4. It's got the 351W and 4.10 gears and a 4 speed that I believe to be a T18 (heard that the T18 only had the pto cover on the passenger side and the fact that it will only go into first if I'm at a dead stop). I'm considering a few different things to change on it. As it is I have a better muffler but it's a lil small IMO with 2.25 in and out. A previous owner put a holley 4160 carb on it (found out it wasn't the 4180 during the carb rebuild), and removed all the smog stuff. I thought he had removed the catalytic converter as well but it seems as though some of these trucks never came with one.
Ok..so right now I lookin at maybe some 1.7 ratio roller rockers, headers (either shorties and a borla y pipe or long tubes), edelbrock rpm air gap intake, or an edelbrock exhaust. I am also considering a full msd ignition setup. Also, would some ported E7TE's be a good upgrade for this truck? I intend to eventually go with a 408 stroker but that's hard on a student's budget so that'll at least be a couple more years. Any and all thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
ps..funny story..I bought this truck b/c the 03 chevy my folks basically gave to me started falling apart...sadly I didn't stop with it until after i dropped some perdy good $$ into it...live and learn I guess
If you could afford it, I would change the heads to the aluminum edelbrocks with the bigger valves and ports to go along with the intake manifold. Keep the carb you have for now.
