u joints or hubs its a toss up

if the u joint blows it will take out the ears on both inner and outer shaft

if the hubs just strip you can get away with just replacing them. If the hub gear breaks very often it will warp the hub assembly.

if you break an axle shaft or hub you can still make it home. I wouldnt drive much though or you could mess up the spindle.

Chromo shafts and real good u joints for the 44 will cost you $800-1000 which is in the neighborhood of what a kingpin D60 will cost you but 99% of the time it will need a complete overhaul.

If you want to go hardcore check out my D60F build

Shafts and hubs are exactly the same. Just swap that out if you break something.

to my knowledge the ONLY things transferable from a 44 to a 60 is the brake callipers rotors tie rod and drag link.

You will need to re-gear the 60 with front 60 components. Rear 60 stuff is not interchangable.

If you are not a avid wheeler some good chromo shafts and u joints might be better/cheaper for you.

superior axle shafts and CTM joints are the best and both carry "if you break it we'll replace it" warranties. Expect to pay $800-1000. Id also upgrade to Warn premium hubs because they are stronger than ford stock ones IMHO.

True, need to learn how to drive.

38.5" Mudders, the 40" Iroks are waiting for the front Dana 60 swap.
Ford Drive train, that's why it does so well.

Mr N.

A jeep weighs how much less than a 79 F250?

vehicle weight is a big part of axle strength. What works for a 3000k rig wont work for a 6000k one.
