There ya go. those fronts are tough as hell. Basically what you need if your runnin a tire over 35" and plan on wheelin it. Pretty expensive. But if ya need one PM me.

a king pin is a 1 1/2" tall cone shaped piece of steel that screws into the inner C. the knuckle sits on top of the kingpin and the spring keeps tension on the knuckle. Its basically a steel ball joint. A kingpin in a big truck is a steel rod that goes from the top of the knuckle all the way through to the bottom and the knuckle hindges on that. Obviously a 4wd truck cant have a 9" rod throught the middle of the C because there would be no room for the axle shafts.

See the link that Dave posted for the diagram

the ball joint axles arent bad. Actually in stock form the ball joint axles are somewhat stronger than the 78-79s because the inner axle shafts do not neck down.

If the u joints and hubs are in good shape you shoudnt have any trouble out of it with 38s and a heavy foot.

85-91 Kingpins don't neck down either.

You'll be fine with 38's. Now if your at 44's....
