Guys, I installed the front sway bar kit from Summit today on my 66 F100 and let me tell you, it is a night and day difference. Not even the same truck. The roll is gone on curves and corners and, it has a more solid feel on the highway. It may be my imagination but, it seems to brake easier also. It may not be diving as much when the brakes are applied. I highly receommend this or any front sway bar upgrade for thr 65-66 F series trucks. It was easy to install too. 6, 3/8" holes and about an hours time and it was done. Well worth my peace of mind should I have to make an evasive move at highway speeds.
ya know, from the looks of that sway bar, that might work on a 64 ford with the solid axle. just flip it round so that the the end links got to the frame not the axle.
*Another benefit that I just noticed is that you dont hear that damn fuel level sender slapping around inside the fuel tank eveytime you turn a corner.
Boy that is pretty. I have to pull my front end apart this weekend to put in the radius arm bushings, so I'll check to make sure I'll have the clearance. (LOL, shouldn't be a problem since we're sorta driving the same truck.)
Thanks for posting the picture
The bolts you see pointing down are actually one U-shaped bolt and it cannot be flipped. The threads that are past the lock nuts can be cut off and that is what I am going to do to mine. I do think that you could use 3/8 bolts instead of the U-bolt and install them with the nut on top. I just used what was in the kit per the instructions.
Oh wait. If you are talking about the 2 long bolts that the bushings are on, no, they cannot be inverted becasue they would hit the bumper stops on bumps. The clearance is pretty tight in that area. If I cut those off, it is going to be bear replacing those bushings in the future. I will take another look to be sure though.
Well you sold me. I'm gettin some. That sender in tank drives me crazy also.
I'm thinking if a guy took a fine tooth hack saw to cut them down. You shouldnt have a prob. gettin them off later.
Very cool product.
Well, I was talking about the compression factor of the 4 bushings. if you cut the bolt off flush with the nut, you will have hell getting new bushings on later.
