Hi, I have a 2002 E350 15 passenger van and it has the V10 engine.
I have heard a lot about Bilstien shocks for this vehicle and am interested in hearing from someone who took off the stock shocks and installed the Bilsteins and what difference you noticed please.
I drive the van on the highway and I tow a 9200lb camper in the summer.
Bilstein lists a C for comfort shock and a heavy duty one. I don't want this thing to ride any harder than it does, and I also don't want to compromise its towing steadiness.
Any help appreciated.
Andrew.
Bilsteins are the only shocks I use on my vehicles (1994 E150 Conversion, 1992 Volvo TurboWagon, 1989 F150). On the Volvo, a bit stiff. Great control, less roll and less brake dive. The F150, a bit too stiff all around, especially rear. Then the big bear E150 Conversion with 5.8 and tow package, they are perfect. They filter out all the smaller bumps, freeway expansion joints and that annoying hop that starts at certain speeds over them. The only time you feel the firmness is when you encounter big potholes. Bilsteins and Michelin LTX's... a good combo.
Mine is a '99 E-350 w/7.3 PSD, currently with ~90k. I replaced the stock shocks a few years ago with Bilstiens and will never use anything else. There is a marked difference in the ride and handling.
