I'm working on my 1991 F150, it came from the factory with a 302/ automatic. I started tearing it apart with plans to rebuild the 302 and swap in a ZF 5 speed, and so i nabbed a donor computer out of a 91 F150, 302/M5od truck.
Now, as the build is progressing into more of a "restomod" type of build, with the body coming off, etc, i am pondering if i should switch to a 351W/ 5 speed combo. I have a 351W already, and i can certainly source the proper parts to mate it to the truck, my question lies with the computer work.
what years do i need to find a computer from to make the truck function? I do have a 95 F250 parts truck that was a 351w/ 5 speed, i dont know if it is compatible, or not really? Also, will the engine wiring harness work with the 351W i have? the Windsor i am planning on using came out of a 95 F150, it was an automatic truck, and yes, it is still speed density, not mass air. i did keep the entire harness from that truck as well, but i dont know if it will do me any good.
+1, keep the original harness intact and adapt the motor to it where necessary. The only place this will be necessary is with the distributor, you will have to modify the 5.8 distributor to accept a TFI module and change the PIP module.
