I am going to the local parts yard and was wondering what cars did the 427 intake come on. Or what the police interceptor intake came on. What should i look at on the intake so that I know it is what i want?
And will these fit on my 390 stock cylinder heads for my truck?
Honestly, I bet the good intakes have been taken from the junkyards. There might be some marine applications out there though. As for stock intakes the pre 1966 have bigger runners, than the later ones. You might want to check out how ford casting numbers system works before you go.
As for fitment, the intakes are all interchangable, you have to watch for port mismatch or port them to fit.
Check out the 428 Intake thread a little further down. If you are looking to pick up a 4-barrel manifold, be happy if you find 1, if you find aluminum, buy it instantly...
Well I figured they might all be picked over, but you never know. The current one I have is a 4v with "T" on it. I also have one 4v with a "S" on it. Which one is better. If I cant find a better one which should I use?

They are both pretty much the same intake. Later intakes had the EGR garb but other than that. What year 390 heads are on your truck? Mid 66 (or thereabouts) was the changeover from the lowriser to the new smaller emission style ports. Lowriser intake fits and runs on the newer heads but the port match is not the best. Newer style intake on lowriser heads runs very well. As advised spending a little time learning the different intakes and associated numbers is a very good idea. This can save you from the BS'ers out there with their Super Cobra Jet Medium Lowriser Tunnelwedge Police Interceptor High Rise Tunnelport intakes that are more often run of the mill intakes and nothing special. LOL.
Even with a intake that has similar size ports, there is the issue that they simply dont even come close to lining up. X/Y axis on the 64 C4AE heads and 4BBL intake was @ best .25" off at the base and 2 out of 4 ports vertical walls were off by at least .3125" This wasn't guesstamation they were bolted together and scribed.
