Hello i have the intake off my 351w, when i am putting it back on what part of the intake gasket should i use sealant on? I was told (if i remember correctly) to use gasket selant around the water passages but put nothing around the intake ports and to use silicone on the rails for lack of a better word( the front and back strips of gasket). help me out a little here as i cant remember what i was told to do and have never done it before
You should get a for piece gasket. Use the two gaskets that mate to the heads with a very thin coat of RTV around the water passage and the crankcase crossover passage (center of head). Throw away the and gaskets and use a bead of RTV. Make shure this bead covers the area where the gaskets meet the end rail on the block. LET THE RTV SET UNTIL IT HAS A "SKIN". then put the manifold on and FOLLOW THE TORQUE PATTERN.
