will the Y-pipe make that big of difference ? i got rid of my "cat" and put a new exhaust on ... to be honest now that i think of it ... i notice that "pinging" sound sometimes after shutting it off ...

I got mine so cheap because I took a risk. The seller did not know if the chip was unlocked or not. So not to many people to a chance on it. I took the risk and it worked out, I guess I just got lucky. Next time I may not be as lucky.
Camo
I just ordered my y-pipe the other day, so I have no living proof yet. I am just going on what athers have stated on this site. I will let you know when I get it on.
Now, what do you think the pinging sound is from? I have never removed a cat completely. I have swapped out for a high flow before, but I am not a big fan of taking them completely out. I had a buddy once who took his out then straight piped it, and then didn't have enough back pressure, so he had to put either a muffler or cat back on.

ahh, yep. i actually did the same thing before buying my current one... got it for $25 on ebay from a woman who was selling it (was her ex-husbands) and didn't know anything about it.. but i didn't get so lucky. thankfully i only spent like $25 on it.
redford that is what I was thinking too, but camo acted as if it had just started after he took his cat off. I think most trucks do this when the exhaust is hot.
Do you think that the TBS helped you?
I ask because I have heard some good things about them and some real bad things about them.
If you can get 1 mpg better out of it I would think it is worth the price.
the thing i noticed about the throttle body spacer is it prefers to be right ontop of the engine intake manifold, and if u use a K&N FIPK it actually has a 45 degree plastic pieces that lifts the throttle body up off the intake manifold, and i think that decreases its effectiveness..
but yes u can deffinitely feel an improvement, especially for in town driving.
