With all the $ they want and wanted for these trucks, you would think they would at least attempt to make a quality product. When it comes to sheet metal I think all the manufactures are lacking. I found one of my major leaks, and there is absolutly no reason that it should happen. Yeah another factory hole in the roof of the cab. The third light on the top of the cab was the culprit. After taking out the 2 sheet metal screws that I thought would just hold the lense on, the whole unit comes off. And it has what looks like one of those foam gaskets behind it. And the little pocket that surounds the right hand light was full of water, well since the truck is leaning a bit to the right and also that is the side my major puddle in the rear cab corner was forming at I am guessing this is the cause. I used the 3M strip caulk that another guy on here had mentioned, but I had got it before I saw his post. I used some of it around the firewall clutch port plate that I drilled for such things as wires and ride rite hoses to go into the cab. Anyway the Ford could have saved themselves some recall money and warranty work money buy just doing like my Metro has it, its inside the car and shines through the rear window.
Actually you would think that trucks would have been exempt from the third light law. Or if they really had to have it there, make a better quality light fixture, and seal the NONremoveable part real good to the cab and have a separately removable lense so you can easily change the bulbs. It looks like a pain to do this one, since it seems the wire is so short and connecting and disconnecting the connector will be difficult when the time comes.
Anyway I hope FORD comes here and reads things on this forum.
