wondering if anyone who has replaced the 5 marker lights on the roof of the cab has had problems with the amber colored lenses coming off. my 77 f250 4wd came with these from the factory, but they were replaced with new (aftermarket??) ones shortly before i got the truck. the problem seems to be that the lenses are glued (elmers??) to the plastic base. i have already lost 4 of the five lenses, and am just waiting for that last one to go... no 4 wheeling to blame it on, so they must just come flying off when i'm going down the hiway. it does ride a little rough, but i cant believe it rides THAT rough. am i just a victim of cheap aftermarket replacements, or is this a common problem? any suggestions on quality replacements? thanks
The ones are my 78 f250 are screwed in place with torx head screws. I have to take out the headliner inside the cab to get at the bulbs. I am going to replace them when I paint the truck. The lenses should be one piece, I can t imagine what would be glued.
just uploaded some pics of these marker lights in my user gallery. the white base is screwed to the cab roof, but the only thing holding the amber lens to the white base is crappy glue. this was my only remaining light, when i went to unscrew it from the roof the lens just fell off!!! don't know how it stayed on this long. is this what you guys have gotten for replacements, or is there something better?
I bought a set a year and a half ago from LMC and haven't had any problems with the lenses coming off. They are copies of the original ford lights and I've been very happy with them. I think they were about $50.00 for the set.
