I traded my 1997 F-150 for a 2005 XLT 2D Ranger 4x4vv. I'm in the WTF did I just do phase because I traded a good reliable friend. Plus I don't trust dealers.
It doesn't have power seats or windows. I'm wondering if the wiring is there already? if I do install a seat that is electric would it be able to work? I'm going assume a few relays would have to be installed.
I'm pretty sure that the wiring harness is already there. I don't know if the molex connector is on the end of the bundle that would power the seats or the relays for that matter.
Howdy- Ive found this site real helpful, hope you do to.
My truck doesn't have ac, but all the wiring seems to be there for it. you might pull the door panel and check for any wires for the windows. I don't know about power seats though.
To install electric seats all you have to do is run a 12v power line out to them. Very easy to do. People do it all the time when they replace their Ranger seats with Explorer seats.
Rockledge is correct, wiring harness not there-at least for older trucks like my 94.I installed power windows, door locks, and mirrors in my 94.I found a donor truck at a local salvage yard-purchased door panels ,wiring harness, switches, lock motor assemblies-everything except the PW motors and regulators which were too expensive-all else very reasonable.Purchased mirrors from Keystone and PW kit from J.C.Whitney.Truck looks like it came fully optioned and has worked perfectly for more than ten years. Installation was not hard but did take some time. Mainly because I wanted to integrate the "new" wiring harness so that it looked OEM. I did the parts removal at the salvage yard myself, which is particularly important if you want to claim the entire harness. It is also important to use the Ford wiring manual-makes life a lot easier. I am not sure about 2005 but there are many similarities between my 2001 and the 94.
