the thing is, this bed actually has a separate compartment for the spare, if you look at the pics, its in the upper front portion on the drivers side.

The bed was made by a company called Highway Trailer Company, out of Edgerton, WI. and was made in 1957. They made these types of beds from the I believe late 30's up through the 50's and they were bought primarily for use on telephone utility trucks. The guy that I bought it from took it off a mid 30's chevy truck, although they could be mounted on any truck.

I'm still amazed that I was able to find one of these is such good shape (and for as cheap as I did.. I only paid $60 for it). Most of these weren't saved. In all honesty, my truck bed itself is probably more of a collectors item than the rest of my truck.

This is sweetness!!! I imagine this is what was in mind in the first place with the running boards. As for different? I like different. Lately, I've been having thoughts of different myself. If I get my uncle's 49 F6, I'm thinking of building a Cambell from scratch. Won't happen anytime soon, though. Keep it up, Irondragon.

Bob, you have way too much freetime, but I certainly appreciate it

Hopefully here in the near future I can get myself back out into the garage and get this thing on the road. The big thing I need to do now is get the driveline in the frame, then tackle the bodywork.
