In Retrospect,you guys...
bailed me out in January with my GPR problem by giving me practical advice, sending me schematics, you saved my a**.I am very appreciative of it,so dont get me wrong. My 99.5, F250,SD, x cab,7.3,6 spd started all winter in low 20 degree temps w/o blk heater and with straight wire fom dash to GPR(?). A Ford tech says being I have hooked the wire to the front relay (intake heater relay) by the fuel filter, that is wrong,it should be to the rear relay(GPR) immediately behind it in direction of the firewall, but being those 2 relays are wired in parallel that it still works.Did I read those schematics wrong and the rear one is the GPR? So in all actuality the relay I replaced is good and the rear one might still be bad/ or PCM- I could replace the rear one with the old one I took off thinking it was the GPR? I'm not confused,I hope I didnt confuse all of you.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused -- I'm not exactly sure what you did. The rear one is the GPR, the front one is the AIH relay. They both draw power from the batteries but have separate control lines (small wires). Now, in a pinch you could take the AIH wiring off (and insulate it!!), and move the GPR wiring to it if you had to for a temporary fix.

that is the way diesels were cold started in earlier years before glow plugs were put in the cylinder head
