so bad power valve seems to be the culprit, am I understanding that correctly, also I probably do not need this choke pull off anyway as it is for an auto choke set-up?, since PO "huhmmm rebuilt" the carb, should I replace the power valve (assuming its available seperately) or purchase a rebuild kit. ( yeah some highrise alum. intake and edelbrock carb would be awesome, too bad Im the only bread winner in my family, as the wifes in college, and we have 3 little kids) so, as for right now gettin it to run is my next main goal, then Ill do the body and paint, and then Im thinkin about 500 rwhp

D4AZ-9A586-A (Motorcraft CT-499-A) is the rebuild kit...it comes with the power valve.
Here's just the power valve part number: C0AZ-9A565-C (Motorcraft CE-76)
IMO, I'd trash that carb and replace it with a better one.
Just as soon as you fix one problem with that POS carb, another one pops up.
The accelerator pump diaphragm is notorious for failing.
