IL emissions testing
hey guys im looking at doing away with my cat. put i live in IL and we have to take the emissions test here so here is were im going how do they test are diesel trucks is it an OBD-2 or what??? any help would rock thank

I don't know what Il may do in the future and where I am (NYC) there is no emissions check on diesel's YET but based on the gasser inspection, I imagine the first part of the inspection is a visual check. If what's supposed to be there isn't there (the cat) they go no further. You fail. It doesn't matter what the OBD-2 system says since it generally can't detect the existence of a cat unless there are O2 sensors downstream of it.
