Funny. I am a technician for Ford and I have drivin a Dodge for about 4 years. Last weekend I broke down and traded my Dakota for a 08 F-150 SC 5.4L. Well I did the PDI and also the $1000 in accessories that Ford offered and I just need to have the Truck detailed for me to actually take it. Well I was replacing the front bumper from lot dammage and I see a fluid leak from my pinion seal on the rear diff. I have exactly 100 km on the truck.......and I am already fixing the truck.. Hmmmm.
I told the wife that I work on Ford's all day.....I see nothing but problems on cars and truck's. Thats why it is so hard for me to own a new Ford.My truck is a 95 F-150. I love it.Plus it is cheap to fix.
Mine is 04 fx4 regular cab w/5.4 3valve. I LOVE IT @52,000 miles owned it since new I just cant keep that sh--eatin grin off my face every time I fire her up!! I bet alot of other owners feel the same way. Oh now I have had my little problems too. Broken spark plug, control on passenger window wont work up or down, small nicks in paint, I would definately buy a new ford truck and have no reservations except for the 40,000 they want now! I do wish however I had a crew cab.... need talk to my wife on that one!
My '05 had 3500m on it when I bought it 15mo ago. I do my own oil changes, and so far, it hasnt been to a garage yet for anything. Other than a tire rotation.
I have a 2006 F-150 just turned 60K miles only thing done above normal (oil changes, tires, brake pads)
1 - Bearing for my idler pulley $8 (Entire idler pulley w/new bearing was $25) I took the cheap route)
2 - Just found out while truck is in for 60K service - Rear Pinion is leaking - not sure how bad as I haven't seen it yet.
My 05 is at 30K, and no probs, except for one recall for a hose of some sort. I have driven it for 3 yrs, and replaced the battery, not that it went bad, but here in the desert I dont like to run a battery more than 2 summers, and the oem was 4 yrs old. Maybe it would still be running, but the heat out here is murder on them. My only complaint is a rattle somewhere on the pass side half door area that I cant find.
My '05 Screw 4x4 had exactly zero issues until my wife got rear-ended in it, 4 months ago. My insurance company was good enough to put a NEW frame and bed on it! Long story short, Ford FUBAR'd the tranny and I hope it is fixed now. I love the truck and I have only done regular maintenance on it, brakes, tires, and battery. Ford has earned my business.
My wife's truck is a 2005 F150 SuperCrew Lariat with 122,000 miles. We have had no problems so far, except that &$@% ashtray that pops open every time you hit a bump. It has been a great truck. Mileage has dropped lately, so I think it's about time to change the spark plugs. That's why I'm here, trying to find out how to change the plugs on this electronic beast.
a few squeaks & rattles in year one, and now at 60,000 miles....just gas & oil & tires, and still running original brakes! Replaced a couple backup alarm sensors, but nothin major.
This one has all the toys & nothing bust yet!
