Ok, all is well again with my 2003 CC 4x4 King Ranch. New heads, gaskets, arp studs, egr cooler, new turbo, new injectors, new map sensor blahblah(yes this project broke the bank)(ford did all the work and shared in the pain/financial end)....Coolant level seems to be holding just fine, truck has more power like a I was used to. We had to work thru a injector issue after i got the truck back, but all is well now. So here is my question or concern: The truck has a new turbo now, but when i step on the pedal the turbo whistles/whines real loud. When i let off the noise goes away no problem. I went for a ride with the tech and he said, yep thats what a 2003 6.0L should sound like. Before i had all this work done the turbo did not seem to sound that loud, it did have some turbo whistle but now it just seems pretty loud to me. All of you 2003 owners have any input on how loud your turbos are? Thanks for any feed back. by the way i need to update my profile to show actually what my truck is. (not 2008). Thanks Rick
i have an 03 and its the original turbo 106,000 miles. If i drive down the road with the passengers window down it sounds load and i love it.If iam on the highway in the fast lane against a concrete barrier its load.
if drove my buddies 05 many times highway and its like night and day
Banks 4" monster exhaust system. Maybe your right, truck has ben gone so long i forgot what the sound was like. also, maybe because the original turbo was on its way out maybe it was just not as loud as this one. Who knows, truck runs good so i guess i should just be happy and live with it. Thanks for all the feedback!
