Ok, I am having a lot of work done to my truck and I want it right the first time. I am adding a 7" Icon lift w/ 37" tires 4.30 gears and was planning to add the superlift tru-speed. I am being told by the shop that I do not need a truspeed since I am also about to order an X-cal 3 from one of the tuners (spartan, innovative etc). Do I need the tru-speed or not? I was under the impression that the SCT does not recalibrate the speedo. Thanks for your help, Ray
On an 05 you should be good to adjust the speedo with 37's. You will need to tell the tuner that you have that tire size and all other mods you have done. Where the tru-speed would be handy is if you change tire sizes (or you could just have tunes for the different tire sizes.)
SCT will not adjust your speedo. You can change tire size in it for trans. control purposes. To correct the speedo you need a truespeed, speed wizard, or any other correction device.
I have the TruSpeed on mine because of tire and gear changes. It is perfect now.
FYI the gear ratio does not matter for speedometer changes on 1999- up superduty trucks... only tire size.
I have heard elsewhere the SCT does not correct for tire size.
I use a speed wizard on mine, 2 trouble free years and I have had (exact measurements : 36.5", 35.5" 31.7" tires (the last one is stock). Once setup my garmin GPS matches the speed quite well.
