anything is possible. Just look for all the right linkage and or electronics that goes along with the tranny. If is not a electronic model your biggest concern will be the tv cable that controls the shifting points of the tranny. Beware this cable is very sensative and only a slight bit out of adjustment will ruin your aod. If you dont know about adjusting it have someone who does help you or get educated on it before you take that first test drive. It literally will only take a mile or two to ruin a aod. hope this helps.
An early 90's AOD will work, but be careful about what you buy. In the late 80's Ford started using the AODE transmission, and phased out the AOD somewhere around 1992 or 1993. The AODE can be used with an older truck, but will require a the purchase of a seperate computer to control the transmission.
I dont want to get into that, I just noticed on on Craig's list locally and though it would be good to have around. So setting up the linkage is a scarything from the sounds of it. Suppose this is true even when swapping out the car as well. Fun!
I tried using that guide that autozone has and it did not work for me. Like I said you better know what you are doing when you adjust this or you will ruin your tranny in a hurry. I had jasper engine put one in for me and they recomend using a pressure guage to adjust it poperly. How it is done I am not sure but I know found out the hard way it is a costly mistake. good luck
