Why, why, why?
I changed a mirror in a 2004 expedition,today.
I had to remove 5 screws to remove the door panel.
One was philips, two were 7mm hex, and the last two were T20 torx.
The mirror had three 11mm nuts to remove...that was easy.
Why so many different fasteners on one door panel?

Because non-commercial vehicles are rarely designed with maintenance in mind.
Consumers don't fix their own rides often enough for maintainability to be a sales feature.
The sooner your ride goes to the shredder the sooner the maker can sell someone else in the food chain another one to fill the gap.
By the way, if you bring the tools for the above job plus a few extra 1/4" drive metric sockets/extensions, and a universal, you can skin out all sorts of parts from recent Fords.
