Help with engine ID

I've been looking at many of the postings which is very helpful. I have bought a 1964 F600 with dump bed. VIN# F60MN521449 (from the title) Body looks like '64 F600, no VIN on drivers door.

From what I've learned on here, I'm guessing

1964 F600
330 H/D
Norfolk, Va

Now I want to confirm the engine is what the title says.
The exhaust manifold on the drivers side had 292 written in white pen on it, it had the crossover pipe across the front originally, the distributor is in the back. Spin on oil filter. Does any of this help?

Where else can I look to try to confirm.

Well I can tell you the M, 4th digit, is for a 330. However the distributor being in the back and the crossover pipe for the exhaust is a 292. If the oil filter is closer the the bellhousing and spins on at a upward angle then it is for sure a 292 without a casting # found on the block.

The 330 HD is part of the 330/361/391 industrial engine family. Very close to the FE's but not one.

If you can please check the drivetrain as well since the 292 and 330 don't share the same transmission.

According to the book the only place your warrenty plate will be in on the drivers door under the latch. You can do a search for the frame stamping near the passanger side wheel on the top rail. This is where they typically are for F100's. This may not be the case for yours though.

My point for him checking is that most likely he doesn't have the correct transmission to haul loads around. I'd hate to think of the F600 being used for it's intended purpose only to break. You know what I mean?

I was going to list all the 4 and 5 speeds both the 292 & 330 used in 1964, but there were more than I cared to type.

The 292's used Warner T-98 4 speeds while the 330's used New Process 435's 4 speeds.

The 292 & 330's both used Clark 5 Speeds, but the transmissions are engine specific and have different model numbers.

Bona fides: Transmission Section 70 / Pages 8 & 9.

both 4 speeds were pretty week, normally loosing the reverse idler pretty easy
with the 330 it would usually bust the case at reverse idler shaft

the clark was the toughest of the 5 speeds
if the N/P got a lttle low on oil the whole top shaft was trash
