Valid VIN for 1978 4wd F600
I run a 4wd F600 (that I think is a 1978). I've had it for a dozen years. I run it on my farm without tags. I can't find the title. I want to register it. If I can register it, then I'll invest TLC. The online searches won't confirm that I'm even reading the VIN number correctly. Those searches start at 1980 and require 17-digit VIN's. I am reading the VIN from the driver's door where the raised lettering is tiny and unclear. I am sure that it is 11 characters. I'm unsure of one of the letters.
Here are my best guesses:
F66EVAC1159, or
F66EVAG1159
What have I got?

F66 = F-600 4WD
E = 361 4V(4 Barrel Carb) XD(Extreme Duty - I'm Guessing) 5.9 liter engine(Gas)
The last 6 digits have to be AG1159. AC1159 would be for the 1977 model year
AG1159 = manufactured in September 1977 as a 1978 model.
Oh, and I forgot the V = manufactured in Kentucky.
Sounds like a brute!

VIN thanks; parts and manuals?
I appreciate the speed, clarity and generosity of your reply. After all the years of telling myself to nail the VIN and not being able to read it, I can't believe that you delivered the solve in 20 minutes. Profuse thanks.
Now that I've got the VIN, I'll head to PA's DMV. They might already link this to me. If I don't have title to this truck, maybe with the VIN there is some process to get the title. However that turns out, I won't be further behind. I'd love to title, register, and step myself up a notch in responsibility and freedom with this. In full disclosure, I vaguely remember having a first plate (maybe a temp plate) on it. When I got this F600 about 15 years ago, I drove the streets. I'm not sure that the truck was ever papered. I got stopped once on the PA turnpike. Unbelievably, the guy cut me a break.
Yes, this truck is a brute. I've never said it, but it is actually dear to me. This truck has delivered extreme performance and high adventure. It isn't dead by a long shot. I am not even sure that it could be killed.
The emergency brake that grips the driveshaft was missing when I got the truck. Is there a source for manuals or parts for this truck? I'd pay dearly for that driveshaft brake and a pair of front fenders.

Best bet would be the original Ford truck manual on E-bay for 1978(Where I got mine). It covers all the F-series trucks and the L series also. It does include F-600. The other option is a CD of the original Ford truck manual produced by Detroit Iron. Good luck.
Again, check out the other big-truck forum. They would be more familiar with parts sources and availability.
